Last month was everything that I could dream of as a kid.
I stayed in London for over a week with my school friends, and it was the most beautiful break ever. The mornings were full of tea and hearty breakfast sessions, lunch was all about cooking together and revisiting our school days, while evenings were about exploring the city and catching up with more friends.
I do not remember the last time I had such a relaxing break. It made me wonder that, at times, we do not realise we need a break till we take a break.
Oh, also I visited the famous London places – Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye and the Tower Bridge and they were a sight to behold – magnificent and magical. Now I understand the hype, and it makes so much sense.
Honestly, I could not think of a better way to end 2023, and there is nothing I would like to change. I am immensely grateful for everything that worked and did not work out for me.
Back in Cardiff, every day unfolds as a new challenge.
The city has become a canvas for self-discovery, revealing capabilities I never knew existed within me.
I wrote on Linkedin a few days back why my university experience isn’t the ‘normal’ journey most people go on. You can read it here.
Beyond academics, the joy of being selected for the university table tennis team to play in BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport) added a thrilling dimension, reigniting my passion for the sport. Guinness evenings with friends have become a comforting ritual outside the university, and I love it.
One standout experience was my first Durga Puja in a foreign land, away from the familiar festivities of Kolkata, India. The emotional resonance of the festival, expertly organised by a dedicated group in Cardiff, brought nostalgia and newfound joy, transporting me back to the carefree days of being 18
New challenges knock on my door now that the New Year is here.
First and foremost, – I need to prepare myself for a job! It does not sound as easy as I write here, and I know how much I have to work to get one, but I’m motivated to put in my hard work. The second is the university exams – challenging and different, and I would like to believe I’m studying for them. Last is my much-awaited degree, which I’ll complete in September ‘24. It’s funny how time flies so fast.
I’m sure you must think I messed up the order, but trust me, I did not. This is precisely how I see it. I have always wanted to work in the UK sports sector, and right now, I can think of nothing except getting that job in sports.
Please wish me luck! I think I need it! Until then, cheers, and see you next month!
